لمن لا يعرف ما هو Adobe Air فهو باختصار شديد عبارة عن منصة (متوفرة لأجهزة الكمبيوتر منذ فترة طويلة) تسمح للمطورين بتطوير تطبيقات سطح المكتب بشكل مشابه جداً لتطوير الفلاش. لكن الفرق بأن هذه التطبيقات يتم تنصيبها وتعمل مباشرةً من سطح المكتب كأي برنامج آخر على الكمبيوتر (وليس من المتصفح حصراً كما في الفلاش) ومن أهم ميزات التطبيقات المطوّرة بهذه التقنية هي بأنها تعمل مباشرةً على جميع أنظمة التشغيل (ويندوز, لينوكس, ماك) طالما كان Adobe Air متوفراً على النظام.
توفر المنصة للمطورين بيئة برمجية تسمح لهم ببرمجة برامج وتطبيقات ويب تعمل على الحاسوب وخارج متصفح الويب
Adobe AIR من البرامج القوية ايضاً مفيد نوعاً ما اذا كنت تريد ان تتعامل مع برنامج ادوبي تي في adobe tv يعني تلفزيون ادوبي التعليمي ونزلت البرنامج لن تستطيع تشغيله الا بوجود برنامج ادوبي آي ار
فهو تطبيق متعدد المنصات أنتجته شركة أدوبي يعمل خارج المتصفح ويستخدم أدوبي فلاش وأدوبي فليكس ولغة رقم النص الفائق وأجاكس لتصبح قي النهاية برمجيات تطبيقية

A new Adobe AIR Developer Center for Ajax Developers has technical articles, developer videos, and sample applications. There is also technical content throughout the labs site and wiki and in the community.
